Net collective creation systems are understood very openly. We could say that they are a group of technological and social structures setting the conditions so that it is possible that several people create something (experience, work, document...) collectively.

Thus we are not only talking about computer software, but also about a set of rules or ways contributors use in their practicing of collective creation interacting in the net. We understand a socio-tech seed for the Germinador both the explanation of how to do an exquisite corpse or a forum programme in PHP. We understand both the Media Wiki software Wikipedia uses and the group it constitutes with the collaborative task and social interaction among Wikipedists.

[edita] socio-technical devices

The idea we have of socio-tech seeds is based on what the studies about the social construction of technologies call socio-technical device or socio-technical assemblage . From this point of view this "technical" is not only a cultural artefact but also culture in itself, very difficult to set apart from the social dynamics that surrounds it, shapes it, and over which to exert its influence. When we make use of a technological tool we are also moving a series of actors that have contributed to its creation. And at the same time, with our appropriation of this socio-technological assemblage, with our own way of using it, with our pre-conceptions and prejudices, we are transforming it (while it changes us).
